Students
Souphanouvong University does not have many international students due to the fact that the university lacks basic infrastructure for international students. The university has a low Internet connection system and poor library system. There is not an accommodation for international students. In addition, the university has limited capable human resources to teach in a foreign language, especially English. There is not an international course. The university is in the stage of developing an International Course for Tourism Management with the hope to welcome students from ASEAN countries and beyond.
Since the establishment of the university, Souphanouvong University has merely welcomed 50 students from Vietnam and 2 students from the Republic of Korea. These students take courses in the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Languages, Faculty of Economics and Tourism and Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry. The following are numbers of international students each year:
- In 2013, 6 students from Vietnam and 2 students from the Republic of Korea enrolled;
- In 2014, 9 students from Vietnam enrolled;
- In 2015, 8 students from Vietnam enrolled;
- In 2016, 6 students from Vietnam enrolled;
- In 2017, 8 students from Vietnam enrolled;
- In 2018, 5 students from Vietnam enrolled;
- In 2019, 5 students from Vietnam enrolled;
- In 2020, 3 students from Vietnam enrolled
